Oracle Linux: OL 7.1 VM is Showing Wrong CPU Core ID in Oracle VM Environment (Doc ID 2668318.1)

Last updated on MAY 15, 2020

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.1 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [3.8.13] and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

When there are 8 vCPUs(just an example) attached to the VM, it should show the total cores as 8 in the VM. But it is showing only one core. Notice the below output. The core id is 0 for all the vCPUs.

Ideally it should show as core id 0 - 7 in OVM environment. The domain type is PVM

OVS version applicable from 3.3.3 to 3.4.3
