Goal

The Machine Check Exception (MCE) log file (/var/log/mcelog) is used by the mcelog.service unit to record critical hardware/software events.
Unlike previous releases, the log file is not created by default on Oracle Linux 7 (OL7).
The change in behaviour is not considered a bug, but intended by design.
This document describes how to create the log file to ensure MCE messages are recorded.
