Oracle Linux: How to Label a SWAP Partition That Already Exists?
(Doc ID 2696139.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 07, 2022
Applies to:
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.0 and laterGeneric Linux
Goal
In case a swap partition is not labeled (eg. with SWAP) and it is required to have it, this procedure will set the label.
Many reasons for this are possible. The swap partition is mounted using the device(eg. /dev/sda3) or by UUID number and label became a requirement. Another could be during a system update or upgrade the swap partition is not mounting because the procedure failed or has a bug and did not set the Label properly.
