Oracle Linux: RAID md Device Numbers are not Persistent Across Server Reboot "/dev/md is changing" (Doc ID 2707619.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 03, 2020

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Server is configured with software RAID 1 during the installation. These md device numbers are changing post every reboot of the server. This behavior can be seen from df command output.

Server doesn't have any problem with booting even though the md devices are changing. That is because /etc/fstab is using UUID of the devices to mount the file system
