Oracle Linux: REAR (Relax-And-Recover) Restore doesn't Happen Due to Active Network Interface differences Between Source and Destination Server (Doc ID 2745383.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 26, 2021

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.10 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [4.1.12] and later
Linux x86-64

Backup source: server1

Restore target: target1

The following document used to configure ReaR.

Oracle Linux: Disaster Recovery Using REAR (Relax-And-Recover) Utility (Doc ID 2498613.1)

ethtool (8) reports Link detected "no" for network interface in destination server target1 during ReaR backup restore in ReaR rescue shell.

Unless the port is up, the server cannot contact the NFS server that stored the ReaR backup. So the restore cannot move forward.
