Symptoms
Messages such as the following are reported by an Oracle VM Server denoting network transmission timeout.
In this instance, the server happens to utilize Intel i40e-based network interfaces that support Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) that allow the device to appear as separate PCI devices via Physical/Virtual Functions (PFs/VFs) to be shared with guest Virtual Machines (VMs).
