[PCA] Upgrade of Management Node Firmware Caused VM Outage due to Unexpected Mounts on /nfs/shared_storage (Doc ID 2762072.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2021

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.3.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Upgrade of a PCA Management node failed at the point where "umount" of the /nfs/shared_storage failed due to extraneous mounts.

This led to rollback of the upgrade, which caused timeout issues leading to node outage.

From the "pca_upgrader -U -t storage-network" log:

Changes

Upgrading system using "How to upgrade the ILOM service processor firmware on PCA compute and management nodes. (Doc ID 2350974.1)"
