Oracle Linux: How To Set read_ahead_kb Value For a Disk (Doc ID 2791046.1)

Goal

To tune the read_ahead_kb kernel parameter.

This setting controls how much extra data the operating system reads from disk when performing I/O operations.

Reducing this value from the default typically increases sustained throughput. Default: 128KB
