OLVM: How to Skip Hosted Engine Deploy Memory Check (Doc ID 2813393.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 13, 2021

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.9 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [5.4.17] and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

This document describes how to skip SHE deploy memory check, as sometimes the memory check gives false alert as below.

SHE Deploy failed once, then second time deploy fails giving insufficient memory error:
# hosted-engine --deploy
[ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Fail if available memory is less then the minimal requirement]
[ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Available memory ( {'failed': False, 'changed': False, 'ansible_facts': {u'max_mem': u'250034'}}MB ) is less then the minimal requirement (4096MB). Be aware that 512MB is reserved for the host and cannot be allocated to the engine VM."}
[ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Closing up': Failed executing ansible-playbook
[ INFO ] Stage: Clean up

However there are enough memory:
# free -m
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 257095 6686 247620 34 2787 248829
Swap: 4095 0 4095
