[OLVM/SHE] How to extend root filesystem on Hosted Engine VM (Doc ID 2896606.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 19, 2022

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.6 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [4.14.35] to Oracle Linux 8.6 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [5.4.17] [Release OL7U6 to OL8U6]
Linux x86-64

Goal

After completing the deployment of Self-Hosted Engine, the root filesystem of the Engine VM can be extended as free space may be avaiable in LVM.  This document demonstrates how to extend the partition, the logical volume, and the filesystem.

For example below, when you execute lsblk command in Engine VM, the disk /dev/vda is 100G size.

But actually the total occupied size by partitions vda1 (1G) and vda2 (24G) is 25G approximately. There's 75G of free space available.
