Applies to:
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Virtual environments where the hypervisor uses XFS for Guest VM storage repository could exhibit a filesystem corruption at the Guest VM Level after a reboot of the Hypervisor.
The most common symptoms are
- Failure of GuestVM to boot
- Data corruption detected when mounting a FileSystem.
This issue seems affecting the configuration using reflink feature with the XFS filesystem on Physical Hosts where the Virtual Machine's disk images are stored.
To check whether the reflinks are enabled or not, Just run the below command
As of today the issue has only been observed in Exadata Cloud environments due to the usage of reflinks in such architecture. For more details on Exadata Efforts please refer to : XFS / EXT4 Based File System Corruptions (Doc ID 2889433.1)
