Oracle VM: High Number of "rx_discards" leads to Poor Network Performance

Symptoms
Poor network performance reported after moving NFS server (virtual machine) to a new VLAN. This NFS server have shares that's used as datastore for static content.
The application reports high number of rejections due to network timeout between the application nodes and the NFS Server VM.
Steady increase in RX "errors" were observed in the Oracle VM Server that hosts the NFS server VM. The errors are reported for interfaces that serve the VM's network.
