Symptoms
An Oracle Linux 7 (OL7.0 through OL7.6) is running the Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK).
Occasionally, some processes, possibly thousands, may hang in an uninterruptable ( D ) state while waiting for a read-write semaphore lock.
Messages such as the following are reported to the system log/journal ( /var/log/messages ):
