OCNE: Procedure To Add "externalip-validation-webhook-service" To Kubernetes Modules Upgraded From OCNE 1.1 To Latest Versions (Doc ID 2943843.1)

Last updated on APRIL 28, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Native Environment (OCNE) - Version 1.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Purpose

This document provides detailed steps on how to add "externalip-validation-webhook-service" to Kubernetes Modules upgraded from OCNE 1.1 to latest versions 1.2 or later.

In latest OCNE versions 1.2 and later when we install Kubernetes modules, "externalip-validation-webhook-service" is deployed to the cluster that controls access to externalIPs. "externalip-validation-webhook-service" runs in "externalip-validation-system" namespace.

In older OCNE version 1.1, "externalip-validation-webhook-service" is not deployed by default when OCNE is installed and kubernetes module is created. Starting OCNE 1.2 and later versions, OCNE installations and kubernetes modules created will have "externalip-validation-webhook-service"  deployed. But any older versions of OCNE 1.1 which are upgraded to latest OCNE versions 1.2 or later still would not be having "externalip-validation-webhook-service" deployed post the upgrade. OCNE upgrade process just upgrades the existing packages and any modules/services installed, upgrade process does not deploy/install any new modules or services post upgrade which are not present before the upgrade.

Steps in this document will detail on how "externalip-validation-webhook-service" can be deployed in older 1.1 OCNE environments upgraded to later versions which does not have "externalip-validation-webhook-service".
