Last updated on AUGUST 10, 2023

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 8.0 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

If a service requires a specific mount point (e.g. /opt, /u01, etc.), the service sometimes fails to start at boot time.

From /var/log/messages log, check the service startup time and mount completion time. Each is logged as follows.

If service startup is initiated first, this issue may be applicable. The specific error depends on the service.

Changes

Installed a service that requires a specific mount point. In addition, a unique device is mounted on that mount point.
