OLVM: Can a Cloned Storage Domain be presented to OLVM Environment with Original Storage Domain for backup (Doc ID 2967449.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 11, 2023

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.5 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [4.14.35] and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Attempting to add a Cloned LUN of a Storage Domain (Cloned via SAN replication) and import the storage domain to an OLVM environment where the Original Storage Domain is still present and operational.

The following error message is seen when the storage domain import is attempted:
(i) This operation might be unrecoverable and destructive
(i) Storage Domain(s) are already attached to a Data Center. Approving this operation might cause data corruption if both Data Centers are active.

This KM helps to determine if this operation is feasible.

Changes

The Storage Domain LUN was cloned from the storage side and presented to the OLVM environment.
The Original Storage Domain is still active and presented to the OLVM setup.
