Oracle Linux: Time Sync Issue with Chronyd Error "Forward time jump detected!" on VMware Guest VM (Doc ID 3038065.1)

Symptoms

VMs hosted on the  ESXi server OS time keeps shifting. The VMs are currently  to sync time with internal NTP servers, the time keeps shifting forward by many hours.
Had to run systemctl restart chronyd to correct the time and time sync with NTP server working fine with chronyd.
Following is logged in "/var/log/messages"
