Oracle Linux: Secure Boot Compatibility with Third Party Security Tools like Antivirus and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) (Doc ID 3064093.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 18, 2024

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

This document outlines the necessary technical requirements that security tools must meet in order to operate smoothly and efficiently in conjunction with the Secure Boot feature. As a critical security mechanism, Secure Boot strictly governs the loading of kernel modules into memory, only permitting authorised modules to execute. However, this stringent control poses a challenge for incorporating third-party security solutions, as its compatibility is contingent upon the design decisions made by the vendor.
