Oracle Linux:Expanding ASM Lun Storage In Linux Level Before Expanding ASM Diskgroup Failed with: "Error: Input/output error during write on /dev/<disk>" (Doc ID 3069315.1)

Symptoms

Attempting to resize a partion using parted on an Oracle Linux 8 server fails with the following error:

The disk in question is part of an ASM diskgroup and is configured with AFD (ASM Filter Driver).

The underlying storage has already been expanded, but the partition on /dev/sdc still needs to be resized accordingly.

This document is being followed: How to extend ASM disk from OS level? (Doc ID 2244754.1), but the error is presented when step 5 is performed.

The server is running 5.4.17-2136.302.7.2.3.el8uek.x86_64 (UEK6).
