OCFS2: Disk Space is not Released After Deleting Many Files (Doc ID 468923.1)

Symptoms

Having deleted a large number of files and/or directories from an OCFS2 filesystem,  disk utilisation tools (df, du) still report unexpectedly high filesystem/disk space utilisation, for example:

# rm -rf /ocfs/*
# ls -l /ocfs
total 0
# df -k
Filesystem        1K-blocks     Used Available Use%  Mounted on
/dev/emcpowerd     20971520  1153520  19818000   6%  /ocfs
