Message of "Many Lost Ticks" and "Your Time Source Seems to Be Instable or Some Driver is Hogging Interupts" (Doc ID 472192.1)

In the /var/log/messages log file, the following warnings are found:

kernel: warning: many lost ticks.
kernel: Your time source seems to be instable or some driver is hogging interupts
kernel: rip __do_softirq+0x4d/0xd0


These warnings only appear on an x86_64 (64-bit) platform and frequently observed on x86_64 SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) platforms.
