Unable to Install New Printer After Migrating Printer Queue From Another Server (Doc ID 556406.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.


While using  Xexport & Ximport to migrate all the printers from System-A to System-B, It works well without any errors and all the migrated printers & previous installed printers in System-B work fine. But a user may run into problem when adding any new printer to System-B.

In this example, when adding new printer queue 'rc01b421', the following errors show on the console at the end of installation:

    There was a problem sending CUPS test page to 'rc01b421' queue:

    lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found


Using the commands below to migrate printer queue from System-A to System-B:
On System-A:
#system-config-printer-tui --Xexport >/tmp/settings.xml

Then on System-B:
#system-config-printer-tui --Ximport </tmp/settings.xml
