Error When Extending A Logical Volume (Doc ID 580304.1)

Symptoms

  Five new SAN disks were presented to the server system and made part of the prodvg volume group:

# vgdisplay prodvg | grep PE
PE Size 4.00 MB
Total PE 647350
Alloc PE / Size 517880 / 1.98 TB
Free PE / Size 129470 / 505.74 GB


As shown below, there are 129470 free extents in that volume group now.  Try to extend the the logical volume, the following error is displayed:
# lvextend -l +129470 /dev/prodvg/prodlv
Using stripesize of last segment 64.00 KB
Extending logical volume prodlv to 2.47 TB
Insufficient suitable allocatable extents for logical volume prodlv: 25894 more required
