Oracle Linux: Using RPM Package Groups With Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) Or Local DVD Content (Doc ID 808834.1)

Last updated on APRIL 22, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux OS - Version 1 and later
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Goal

RPM package groups collect related RPM packages into a single unit.  Installing or removing the RPM package group is simpler than working with the component RPM packages individually.  The Anaconda Linux installer supports RPM package groups at system install time and the system-config-packages tool may be used anytime after the initial install.

Oracle's Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) allows access to the latest RPM package updates but does not support the concept of RPM package groups.

This document describes how to use a YUM repository in concert with the ULN resources to allow RPM package groups to be used after the initial installation.
