Symptoms

WebLogic fails to start.

In Unix/Linux environments, the following error is logged to PIA_stderr.log:

Unrecognized option: -jrockit
Could not create the Java virtual machine.


If using Windows and starting WebLogic in foreground this error is displayed to console:

Unrecognized option: -jrockit
Could not create the Java virtual machine.


If starting WebLogic via a Windows service, the following error is logged to NTService-<DOMAIN_NAME>-PIA.log

[Thu Feb 18 16:37:36 2010] [I] [StartJVM] Initializing JVM
[Thu Feb 18 16:37:36 2010] [E] [StartJVM] Unable to initialize the Java virtual machine!
[Thu Feb 18 16:37:36 2010] [I] [ServiceStart] done waiting for multiple events. Wait=1
[Thu Feb 18 16:37:36 2010] [E] [ServiceStart] Error in JVM. Cause=Unable to initialize the Java virtual machine!

(You need to start WebLogic in foreground to see the 'Unrecognized option -jrockit' error)
