E-PIA: PT 8.50 Getting Wrong Message 'Your PeopleSoft connection has expired' instead of 'An Error Has Occurred'
(Doc ID 1099344.1)
Last updated on JANUARY 31, 2022
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.50 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
PT 8.50.08
When the app server long query operations are getting timed-out, or some application processes are crashing, the users should get the error message 'An Error Has Occurred' like in previous tools versions
In the new versions of PeopleTools like 8.50.08 and below, the user sees wrongly "Your PeopleSoft connection has expired" instead.
STEPS:
======
1. Logon to PIA navigate to some page
2. Shutdown appserver domain
3. Try to navigate in PIA further
4. Getting session expired page with:
"Your PeopleSoft connection has expired"
For increased security on this site, connections are expired after XX minutes of inactivity.
(where XX is the total time-out that was set in webprofile security page)
User might report the expire page being hit while they are actively working in application under some components that might have problems.
PeopleSoft admins will try to increase the webprofile total time out, but still the expiration errors are reported by users
This could cause support issues while this message is misleading in 8.50 and normally related to PIA problems like cookies, timeout settings, permission list time-out settings and cache and temporary internet files, when in reality it could be an application page issue or other problems/crashes in appserver/tuxedo layer, like memory dumps or other server JVM issues, etc.
