(Doc ID 1143823.1)

You may see one of the following three symptoms when installing and/or starting the WebLogic PIA:
When starting a WebLogic 10.3.x or 12c PIA in a Linux environment, it may hang or start very slowly. No errors are logged.
When installing PIA, in a Linux environment, it hangs at about 20% completion.
If the issue occurs during the PIA install, the process is hanging on command "java -Dpython" which can be observed as follows:
1. Run the following command:
ps -ef|grep <user>" (where <user> is the user id who is installing the PIA)
2. You'll see that the installer is hung running "java -Dpython". Example:
classpath /opt/bea/wlserver_10.3/server/lib:/opt/bea/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/weblogic.jar weblogic.WLST /tmp/psoftuser_wlsdomain.py -
/opt/peoplesoft/PT8.50/dmo/webserv/dmo singleserver 18000 18002 system 1234567897307264
When starting the PIA, it hangs while starting. If you get a thread dump (see instructions in document 659452.1), it shows that thread is stuck on "FileChannelImpl.trylock":
at sun/nio/ch/FileChannelImpl.lock0(Ljava/io/FileDescriptor;ZJJZ)I(Native Method)
Eventually, the PIA start fails and this message is logged to PIA_stdout.log:
<Jan 19, 2012 11:26:29 AM PST> <Critical> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000362> <Server failed. Reason:
There are 1 nested errors:
weblogic.management.ManagementException: Unable to obtain lock on /psportal/PT85114/webserv/peoplesoft/servers/PIA/tmp/PIA.lok. Server may already be running
