Goal

This document describes how to export data from your database, for sending to parties such as GCS Support. While there are many ways to exchange data, this document describes two formats which are typically available to PeopleSoft and Oracle database users:

 These methods are useful for exchanging amounts of data that would be cumbersome to enter manually.  They allow the receiving party to import the data into their local database to perform investigation or troubleshooting of data related issues.

I have sent data in a spreadsheet. Why can't one use data in a spreadsheet or xls file?
Spreadsheets are terrific for reviewing data offline but often present problems when imported from the spreadsheet into a database. Using Data Mover dat files or import scripts overcome these problems.
