EPC: Project Setup allowed for two business units to create same Project ID. (Doc ID 1229416.1)

Symptoms


On : 8.9 version, Functionality

When attempting to create project with the same project id for a different business unit, Project Setup page allowed two business units to create same Project ID.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Same project ID are being saved for two separate business units.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
---------------
Project Setup should not be allowed for two business units to create same Project ID.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1.Setup Financials/Supply Chain > Install > Installation Options
a. Add a last project ID

Take two business units into account, now for Business_Unit_1, give that value in Business Unit field.

2. Project Costing > Projects > General Information
a. Add a new project with assigned project id
Do not use 'NEXT' in the Project field, instead add Last Project ID + 1 value in the Project field.

3. Now for Business_Unit_2, give that value in Business Unit field.

For Project: now use the 'NEXT' in the Project page and click on Add.

4. Add rest of the basic required information on the Projects and save the project.

5. When you query the Projects table (PS_PROJECT) you will see the same project id created under two different business units.

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:

Due to this issue, users cannot use Projects 'NEXT' Functionality properly.
