E-AD: Version Increases Or Decreases Unexpectedly For Project Migrations (Doc ID 1262255.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.50 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

During migration of projects, version numbers sometimes increases by more than expected, and other times the version numbers even decreases.

For version increases, it was found that the version from the previous migration is sometimes used as the basis for the next migration when multiple migrations are done to different databases from one single App Designer session, even though the targets were different databases. However, as long as the version number is incremented, there should be no problem with data integrity

For the decreasing of version numbers, there are specific conditions that will cause version numbers to decrement (instead of increment).  The runtime system considers decremented version numbers as errors and a "Deserialization integrity failure" error will be issued when such a condition is encountered.  Users may see error "Data being added conflicts with existing data".

To get the system back to being usable, the customer is forced to clear all cache, run the VERSION AE program, and rebuild cache.
