Symptoms

If an employee has multiple jobs with the same Benefit Record Number and some or all jobs are terminated and rehired on various effective dates, running the Rebuild Primary Job Flags process can either remove the Primary Job flag from all Employee Records or set it on multiple Employee Records.

An example of a specific sequence of events that can cause the problem is as follows:

1. Hire an employee on both the 0 and 1 records (Navigation: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data).
2. Terminate the 0 record Job (Navigation: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data).
3. Terminate the 1 record Job on the same date (Navigation: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data).
4. Rehire the employee on the 1 record (Navigation: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data).
5. Rehire the employee on the 0 record at a subsequent date (Navigation: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data).
6. Run the Rebuild Primary Job Flags process (Navigation: Benefits > Maintain Primary Jobs > Rebuild Primary Job Flags).

The Benefits Administration process fails because of the existence of multiple Primary Jobs or the absence of a primary job.
