External Awards Component - Such as Manage Student External Awards, Manage Awards by Status, or View Self Reported Aid - Are Display Only and Data Cannot be Updated When Item Type Security is Applied (Doc ID 1300978.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When navigating to any External Awards component - such as Manage Student External Awards, Manage Awards by Status, or View Self Reported Aid - no edits or updates can be made on any of the pages, which are presented as display only. Based on the page/component security - which can be verified to have the 'Display Only' box checked OFF for all components and permission lists - the pages should be presented in edit mode and allow updates to the data.

For example, when a transaction is loaded in 'Error' status, the drop down for the status field is not available to be able to reset the field to 'Unprocessed' (or another status). Another reported scenario is with Item Types reported in Self Service under the 'other' category.

The issue is found to occur specifically when Item Type security is applied in the environment. In some reported cases, the problem is observed to begin, or is first noticed, after applying Item Type security when it wasn't previously applied. If Item Type security is not applied, the pages work as expected.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > External Awards > Manage Student External Awards > External Awards.
  2. Choose any record available for selection, and note no updates can be made on any fields such as when the status is other than 'Processed'
