E-WL: Intermittent WebLogic Crashes when using Oracle/Sun JDK. Logs Show Error "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested 131080 bytes for Chunk::new. Out of swap space?"

There are intermittent issues with WebLogic crashes (ie the WebLogic java process terminates) when using Sun/Oracle JDK.

When the java process terminates, file PIA_stdout.log shows the following message:

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
# java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested 131080 bytes for Chunk::new. Out of swap space?
# Internal Error (allocation.cpp:272), pid=2141, tid=30
# Error: Chunk::new
# JRE version: 6.0_24-b07
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (19.1-b02 mixed mode solaris-sparc )
# An error report file with more information is saved as:
# /opt/peopleosft/webserv/mydomain/hs_err_pid2141.log

You may also see these messages leading up to the time of crash:

If you check the error report file referenced in PIA_stdout.log (file "hs_err_pid2141.log" in this example), it shows the following as "current thread":
