E-PSEM: How to Set the Appropriate Environment Variables for Target Discovery and Target Management Without Modifying Your Current .profile (Doc ID 1366382.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 10, 2017

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.50 and later
Generic UNIX

Goal

PeopleSoft Add-on Target Discovery and Target Management workflows for Unix/Linux environments need relevant Environment variables (like PATH, LIBPATH, ORACLE_HOME, TUXDIR etc) to be set on the host machine in the .profile file. Some customer environments have .profile file which are customized with interactive prompts designed so for interactive login sessions. However our PeopleSoft Add-on Target Discovery & Target Management workflows prefer .profile to be non-interactive (ie., not prompting for user inputs).

The idea of this kind of resolution is to provide a workaround mechanism to customers who do not want to customize their .profile script for PSEM Plug-in purposes. The customers can now use either of the approaches by a 'toggle' mechanism that must be specified in the psemconfig.properties file found under Agent installation folder. For more details, read the comments mentioned in psemconfig.properties file that comes when these patches get installed onto the EM Agent. This file will get installed appropriately under the folder - AGENT_HOME/sysman/config ( for PSEM Plugin 8.52.0.1.0 on EM 11g ) & EM Agent's PLUGIN_ROOT/config ( for PSFT Plug-in 12.1.0.1.0 for EM 12c ).
