The Balance of Arrears for Health Plans is not Correct for Benefit Plan Changes (Doc ID 1371334.1)

Symptoms

When an employee changes Health benefit plans mid year and the prior benefit plan/deduction code has an arrears balance, it is found that the arrears balance is taken on the current Benefit plan/deduction code. For Life plans for this same scenario, we find that the prior life plan/deduction code is used.

There should not be a difference in the way an arrears balance is taken for different plan types for this scenario.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
  1. Employee enrolled in KUMED Coverage Code 1, associated to deduction code KUMED
  2. Arrears accumulates for KUMED of $100
  3. Employee changes to KUMED Coverage code 2, associated to deduction code KUMED9
  4. Payroll calculates and Deductions for KUMED9 include current medical charges and arrears balance for deduction code KUMED.

Payroll Confirm does not clear the arrears balances for KUMED. The arrears balance remains at $100 and each consecutive pay period will continue to deduct the arrears balance plus the current medical charge.
