Copy Primary Permission List Causes Campus Solutions Users to be Unable to Search for People (Doc ID 1400169.1)

Symptoms

When copying a Primary Permission List via the PeopleTools - Security - Permission Lists - Copy a Permission List page, and assigning the new permission list as the primary permission on the User Profile, the users who had access to Campus Solutions pages and data with the old PPL no longer have access to the CS data.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Copy the Permission List which is used throughout our test dbs as the Primary Permission List (HCPPALL) - name it SSTEST..
  2. Assign this new permission list as the primary permission to the PS user profile.
  3. Go to any page in CS and search for a person.  Get no matching results.
  4. Put the original PPL back on the PS user profile and they have full access to all data.

Due to this issue, users cannot copy permission lists and use the copied list.

 Note. The process applies the masking configuration only for permission lists that are used as "primary" permission lists. Therefore, if you assign a User ID a primary permission list that was not used as the primary the last time the DDA process was run, you will need to run the process again.
