E-WL: WebLogic Server Crashes/Terminates Intermittently in Unix/Linux Environment and PIA_stderr.log Shows Error: "X connection to machinename:0.0 host broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)" (Doc ID 1404011.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2012

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version: 8.50 to 8.52 - Release: 8.4 to 8.4
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The WebLogic server crashes (ie the WebLogic java process terminates) for no apparent reason.  This occurs when the web server is on a Unix or Linux platform.  There are no errors or signs of problems in PIA_stdout.log or PIA_weblogic.log. However PIA_stderr.log shows this message at time of crash:
X connection to <machine-name>:0.0 host broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)

The PeopleSoft administrator notices a link between the time they reboot their Unix desktop and when the WebLogic java process terminates.
