EGL: Why InterUnit Journals are Created and Posted Without Journal Lines for the Anchor Business Unit? (Doc ID 1457051.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 28, 2016

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN General Ledger - Version 8.9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On : 9.1 version, InterUnit Journals can be posted without journal lines for the anchor business unit.

Entries exist in PS_JRNL_HEADER table for the journal, but there is no corresponding row in the PS_JRNL_LN table for the anchor business unit.

No out of balance is observed.

Issue can be re-created with the following steps:

1. Create new journal with "anchor' Business Unit, say 30000
2. Add Journal lines with Business Units OTHER than the anchor, say 30100
3. Edit and post the journal

The above steps will create a Journal Header in PS_JRNL_HEADER for BUSINESS_UNIT 30000, but no records in PS_JRNL_LN.

This is actually correct, but why does a Header record get created? And will this cause us any problems?
