In releases < 8.8, the Picking Confirmation process was coded to fail if there was an insufficient quantity for an Item. So users would know that something went wrong and they would check if any action was required from them.
From release 8.8, the 'Picking Confirmation' process (IN_FUL_CONF) (navigation: Inventory, Fulfill Stock Orders, Picking Picking, Confirmation Process) does not fail anymore when there is an insufficient quantity for an Item. There is only a message posted in the Message Log leaving the users 'in the dark' about possible inventory issues that they should be proactively handling.
The IN_FUL_CONF should be modified so that it generates some sort of notification to users when a Pick Plan cannot be confirmed due to insufficient quantity.
