EAM: Asset Basic Add error Data being updated does not exist. (18,4)

Symptoms

When attempting to save the Basic Add page, the following error occurs: Data Being Updated does not exist (18,4)

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
When trying to add a new Asset through Basic Add,
1) after completing the General Info tab, save the asset to get an Asset Id
2) go to Asset Acquisition Detail tab and add Capitalization Details including the Chartfields
3) save - error "Data Being Updated does not exist (18,4)".

or:
1) Add an asset through Basic Add and save without capitalizing. Respond OK to the message: "Warning - You have chosen to save your changes without having capitalized the acquisition detail lines. (805,40)".
2) Display the asset in Basic Add.
3) Update the description on the Asset Acquisition Detail page and save. Respond OK to the message: "Warning - You have chosen to save your changes without having capitalized the acquisition detail lines. (805,40)".
4) Click on the "Capitalize" button, then save. The following error appears: "Data being updated does not exist. (18,4)
".
