The comments entered on the Award Profile - Milestone page are appearing in the email after pressing the Notify button.
This is wrong, as by design the field Comments on the Award Profile - Milestone page is not used to be included in the emails. As per the PeopleBooks, this field is used to "enter any details or explanations regarding overdue milestones and exceptions".
A patch caused a regression and now the above Comments field is included in the emails, which is wrong. Development has delivered a fix (see the Solution section), so that the Comments are not appearing anymore in the emails.
Customers should be using the Comment field on the Milestone Notification page (Grants > Awards > Milestone Notification). This field is designed to be included in the emails, when you press the Notify button.
Regarding the Milestone Notification process (GM_MILE_NOTI), this engine has not been designed to process comments. The engine makes use of the same component as the above Milestone Notification page.
The data is selected through a Component Interface and as such it is not possible for the user to enter a comment before the email is sent by the engine. Unfortunately we will not be able to change the design anymore, as 9.1 has already been delivered to the market.
However, enhancement request 16277089 has been created to see if we can re-design the engine for a future release of PeopleSoft, so that it can process comments. Oracle Support cannot say if it will be considered by Development, nor can a time frame be given. It is really up to Development to decide if this will be considered.
