Information in this document applies to any platform.
In release 9.1, bundle #16, test and Demo, after recategorizing an asset to depreciable and running am_depr_calc, when trying to save a BKS (Book adjustment) transaction to change the asset's in service date, the following message appears:
Asset has Suspend or Resume Depreciation Calculation Open Trans. Must run Depreciation calc first. (8010,172).
Unable to save a BKS to change the asset's in service date which is needed to accurately reflect when the asset went in service and starts depreciating.
Steps to replicate:
1. Add an asset as non depreciable (e.g. in Jan. 2013).
2. Run am_depr_calc.
3. Recategorize the asset to a depreciable category using a trans/acctg date 15 months later (April 2014).
4. Run am_depr_calc.
5. Transfer the asset to another chartfield (not necessary for this test) using same dates as in #3.
6. Run am_depr_calc.
7. Go to the asset Book info page, put in trans/acctg dates April 2014, change the in service date from 1/1/2013 to 4/1/2014, hit Save. Receive the error.
Expected to be able to save the BKS transaction and run am_depr_calc against it.
Unable to save the BKS therefore couldn't run am_depr_calc.
