Last updated on JULY 14, 2017

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When 50% bonus depreciation is calculated for an asset with the Depr_IN_Service_SW set to 'Y', the DX method, and the HY convention per a trans date of 01/27/2012 and an accounting date of 02/29/2012, the Bonus Depreciation PDP includes the 50% Bonus plus 1 month of depreciation. When a BKS is entered to change all convention fields to MQ with the Depr_IN_Service_SW set to 'Y and a calculation type of life to date, the calculation type and the bonus depreciation percent are ignored.

When the same asset is generated and a BKS is entered to change all convention fields to MQ leaving the Depr_IN_Service_SW as is and entering a calculation type of life to date, the calculation type and the bonus depreciation percent are ignored but the results are different.

Steps
--------
This issue can be replicated by performing the following steps:

1) Create an asset as follows:   trans date of 01/27/2012, accounting date of 02/29/2012,  Depr_IN_Service_SW set to 'Y', DX method, HY convention, Useful Life 60, DB Pct 200, 50% bonus defined fro the FEDERAL book.
2) Run the depreciation calculation process and verify the results.
3) Enter a BKS transaction changing the conventions fields to MQ, Depr_IN_Service_SW set to 'Y', calculation type life to date.
4) Run the depreciation calculation process and verify the results.
5) Create an asset exactly as the one in point 1, perform all sets through point 2.
6) Enter a BKS transaction as described above but Do Not check the Depr_IN_Service_SW.
7) Run the depreciation calculation process and verify the results.
