E-SES: Search Index Build Fails when using SSL-enabled PeopleSoft Integration Gateway and SES 11.1.2.2 is installed on AIX: Crawler Log Shows Error "RSA premaster secret error javax.net.ssl.SSLKeyException" (Doc ID 1589740.1)

Symptoms

After configuring SSL on the PeopleSoft Gateway Server, the Search Index/Crawl process fails. This is observed when running the Round Trip Diagnostics test, as the Crawl Step fails with message:

 Crawl Failed. Crawler status failed



The Crawler/Index Build Log file "i1ds*.MMDDHHMM.log" located  in <SES>/oradata/ses/log, shows error "RSA premaster secret error javax.net.ssl.SSLKeyException".  Below is an excerpt from the log, showing the full error:

The issue occurs only in environments where SES is installed on AIX platform


STEPS TO RECREATE:
   1. Log into PeopleSoft application
   2. Navigate to PeopleTools, Search Framework, Utilities, Diagnostics
   3. Run Step 1 (Ping Test), Step 2 (Deploy), and then Step 3 (Crawl)
   4. At the crawl step, the following error is issued:

          Starting Crawl
          SES crawler status : Executing , time elapsed 10 sec, next check after 20 sec
          Crawl Failed. Crawler status failed
