Symptoms

Statement Of Issue :

ELM send notification when learners enrolled in the courses. Brazilian-Portuguese double byte chars not displaying correctly in the learner email notification.

Issue Replication:

1) Login as Learner in Portuguese
2) Enroll into the class
3) Login as Admin in Portuguese
4) run LM_NOTIFY process
5) Verify the learner email

Troubleshooting Tips:

Verify the following:

The Application Server configuration file psappsrv.cfg has the following line in the [SMTP Settings] section:

SMTPCharacterSet=UTF-8

The Process Scheduler server that manages sending of email notifications in batch has its own configuration file psprcs.cfg. The file contains the same [SMTP Settings] section as the Application Server file. If the SMTPCharacterSet parameter is left null, the Unicode characters will not be encoded correctly. Please ensure that the parameters for both the Application Server and the Process Scheduler are the same.
