E-PIA: Autocomplete: Cursor Leaves Grid Field So Backspace Key Causes Page BACK (Doc ID 1599623.1)

Last updated on JULY 22, 2020

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.53 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

With AUTOCOMPLETE enabled, a user would begin typing values in the grid field and a list of valid values from the database would appears but the cursor inadvertently leaves the field (cursor no longer inside grid  field).  User hits BACKSPACE key, but now since cursor is not inside an input field the browser (Internet Explorer ) will interpret BACKSPACE as a PAGE BACK, and it will attempt to go BACK to previous page.  This in turn destroys the input that the user was entering at the time.

Sample replication:

1. Navigate to PeopleTools >Security >Permission & Roles >Roles > Permission list tab
2. Try adding a new permission list "Type PT"
3. Results : a list of permissions with PT will display However the focus is no longer in the field . When attempting to click on the Backspace, the previous page will appear.
