Chartfields Are Not Being Validated In The Project Costing Accounting Rules Setup (Doc ID 1622092.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 24, 2018

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Project Costing - Version 9.1 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Most of the chartfields are not being validated in the Project Costing Accounting Rules setup. Only the account and department fields in the accounting distribution will validate non-wildcard entries and generate errors if they are invalid. The other target chartfields allow invalid data to be saved.

The Accounting Rules setup component should ensure that the “%” value is the only allowed value that does not exist in the prompt tables for the non-Account chartfields.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Product Related > Project Costing > General Options > Accounting Rules
2. Open an existing accounting rule.
3. Update each of the distribution target chartfields, entering invalid data (e.g. XXXXX) and save.

Due to this issue, users may create accounting rules that generate invalid accounting distributions.
