When creating an Item (navigation: Items, Define Items and Attributes, Define Item) and using NEXT as Item ID, the system gets the Last Item Number Assigned, say 20068, increases it by 1, and adds leading zeros so that the total length reaches 18. So the new Item ID becomes 000000000000020069. That new Item ID, including the leading zeros, is stored in the database (SELECT INV_ITEM_ID FROM PS_MASTER_ITEM_TBL WHERE SETID = 'XXX').

The Last Item Number Assigned is defined on the on the 'Item Number Control' page (navigation: Items, Define Controls, Item Number Control). On that page, the system is also adding leading zeros to any number you enter so that the total length reaches 18.

Can you prevent the system from adding the leading zeros when creating a new Item and on the 'Item Number Control' page?
