The 1098-T Box 2 May Show A Negative Amount After CS 9 Bundle 34

Symptoms

On Campus Solution 9, Tax Reporting 1098T

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Charges billed in the calendar year appearing in box 2 of the 1098-T will show a negative number when the charges billed in December 2013 are dropped in January  2014.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Charges dropped in January 2014 that appeared on the prior year's 1098-T should appear in box 4 not box 2.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Enroll student for spring of 2012 and calc tuition
  2. Create 2012 1098
  3. Do not enroll student in any 2013 terms
  4. Enroll student for spring of 2014
      4 classes , 1000 per class and
      calc tuition in Dec of 2013 for 4000 in charges
  5. Create 1098-T for 2013 and see the student excluded due to lack of enrollment
  6. Drop student from all spring classes and calc tuition to be 0
  7. Enroll student in 2 classes for 1000 per term for fall of 2014
  8. Run 1098-T to see box 2 -2000
