The customer has put an Active Directory Authentication/Authorization Provider into the Weblogic Security realm. It connects to their enterprise Microsoft Active Directory server just fine and there doesn't seem to be any issues as far as that goes. However, the Mobile Inventory application ignores this authentication as if it never happened.
In the chapter called "Applying the PeopleSoft Mobile Inventory Management Authentication Provider" in the Mobile Inventory installation instructions, there is section called "Adding the PeopleSoft Authentication Provider to the Active SecurityRealm" which describes that you can only select the Authentication Provider the type of 'SimplePSFTAuthenticator' if the 'wlPSFTSecurityProviders.jar' has been copied to the correct location. This file (and the 'psjoa.jar' file) are copied into the WebLogic Server current deployment. This seems to mean that the Mobile Inventory application has not been designed to accommodate any other Authentication Methods. Just adding an Active Directory Authorization Provider for example into the WebLogic Security Realm is not enough for the Mobile Inventory application to accept it. Is this correct?
